Woodward Camp 2026
Quite possibly my favourite week of the year is being a VIP at Woodward Camp, it makes me feel 16 again, and I want to share that same experiences with the campers; non stop fun & goofing, encouraging the best of each other on and off the bike, late night hang outs and making new friends.
This year I hosted week 6, and we had such a great group of kids. Starting the week on Monday I got the ball rolling my giving away free swag in exchange for tricks and skills at the SLS park, and we got everything from tail whips to first time jumpers. The staff demo is always a highlight, I got technical using my pegs and enjoyed the send show. Tuesday was a little more coaching focussed, I jumped in on the kids instruction and helped out getting some new skills done, followed by hyping up the long jump & high air events, and a VIP Q&A with the campers. By Wednesday I needed a nap haha, but the fun never stops so I spent the day ‘filming a call the shots’ social media video, me against staff and campers. Thursday was one I was looking forward to; I’d arranged a ‘Best Trick’ jam to encourage the campers to show off what they had learned and do their own best tricks, I was pleased to see the progress on some of the things I had been coaching at the start of the week getting pulled out the bag! The kids that rode their hardest and persevered with something difficult won prizes and got mentions. Full send Friday was all about the sessions, having a good time and wrapping up the week with the dirt jump jam and camp fire closing ceremony.
Around all the structured events I had a blast with my staff friends and the other visiting pro’s, creating content together, embracing camp life and staying up until 2am jumping on trampolines, riding bikes and playing card games. It’s such a pleasure to get this experience, I’m very grateful to Woodward for the opportunity to Play Forever - the charity they work alongside to prevent kids from being able to play or be involved in sports they love.
Woodward has set some record action sport numbers this year, especially with the inclusion of their new mountain bike program, which makes up the two wheeled sports numbers (MTB, BMX & Scooter) to match the skate numbers 50/50; which hopefully can only mean good things for us in the development of programs and facilities at camp. Woodward has a way of attracting some of the best types of people to work for them, creating an adrenaline fuelled, fun, friendly environment, and has the resources to continue to develop into one of the leading facilities for action sports in the US and globally. The action sports industry has had a rough couple of years since COVID, so it’s very positive to see improved numbers not only at Woodward Camp but also the X Games and UCI World Cup events. Hopefully this can continue by taking the right advice, caring for the sports history and culture and create a sustainable space for action sports to continue, thrive and grow.
Thank you Woodward week 6 2026!
