Monster Energy Recon Tour 2026 Wrap
The final stop of the Monster Energy Recon tour just wrapped up at the COR Park in Utah, offering double points for a potential overall shake up of the 5 stop series. This was my first time in Salt Lake City, Utah, I really enjoyed discovering the city and community, which is heavily focussed around outdoor activities, such as cycling and winter sports; COR Park fits right in as a high performing centre for bmx athletes who want to take their competitive riding to the next level.
There was a record number of females at this stop across pro & amateur, plus the biggest turn out for mens categories too, ages from 6 to 26, along with local friends and families in the audience enjoying the show.
With three days of riding the course prior to the competition, I wasn’t feeling the most confident… this course really took me out of my comfort zone, as I haven’t practiced on ‘World Cup’ style ramps for two years now, and they prove that it’s one thing having some tricks under your belt at home, but being able to really ride ramps of this level just to get those tricks out is something else. The other girls had their unique strengths in their runs, Sofia Baez from Mexico with her box combos, and local girl Keir Sirlin who grew up riding this course, getting around it with ease and style. Whilst I was struggling to get my tricks out on the huge boxes, I put my focus on a challenging line around the course, that no matter what the result I wanted to give myself a shot at. It was pretty fun to feel that determination and excitement to do something scary and challenging again with something on the line, and that’s what I’m most proud of this trip.
There was less than 1 point between the top 3 women, and as it happened I was fortunate enough to win the stop, and consequently the overall series! The double points up for grabs ment I ended in front of the series leader Hannah Roberts, who had to sit this one out due to a leg injury. I’m very grateful for the opportunities the Recon tour has provided me this year, as I met so many new people, and been able to integrate myself into the US Bmx scene, as well as earning all important UCI points to keep me active on the professional circuit, without having to ship myself outside the US.
